MoleSpot Skin Cancer Clinic uses selected artificial intelligence-assisted technologies to support clinical documentation, skin imaging and the comparison of skin lesions over time.

These technologies assist our doctors but do not replace clinical examination, professional judgement, diagnosis or medical decision-making. Your treating doctor remains responsible for reviewing the information produced by these systems and for all decisions relating to your care.

AI-assisted consultation notes

 

Some doctors at MoleSpot Skin Cancer Clinic use Lyrebird Health, an AI-assisted medical scribe, to help prepare consultation notes.

When Lyrebird is used, it processes the conversation during the consultation and generates a draft clinical note. Your doctor reviews and edits the draft before the final note is added to your medical record.

Lyrebird is a documentation aid. It does not replace your doctor or independently make clinical decisions.

Your doctor will explain the proposed use of Lyrebird and ask for your consent before it is activated.

Using Lyrebird is optional. You may decline or withdraw your consent at any time, and this will not affect the care you receive.

Please tell your doctor or reception staff if you prefer that AI-assisted note-taking not be used during your consultation.

AI-assisted skin imaging

 

MoleSpot Skin Cancer Clinic uses FotoFinder technology for services including total body photography, mole mapping, clinical photography and dermoscopic imaging.

Depending on the imaging service provided, FotoFinder software may use computer-assisted or artificial intelligence-supported functions to:

• compare current images with images from previous appointments;

• assist in identifying new or changed skin lesions;

• analyse patterns and characteristics within dermoscopic images;

• organise lesions for closer medical review; and

• provide analytical scores or information to assist the doctor’s assessment.

FotoFinder analysis does not provide a definitive diagnosis and does not replace assessment by a qualified medical practitioner.

All photographs, comparisons and computer-generated information are reviewed and interpreted by your treating doctor in the context of your medical history and clinical examination.

An AI-generated alert or score does not necessarily mean that a lesion is cancerous. Similarly, the absence of an alert does not guarantee that a lesion is harmless.

Your doctor may recommend further examination, monitoring, biopsy or treatment based on the overall clinical assessment.

Clinical photographs

 

Before clinical or dermoscopic photographs are taken, the purpose of the imaging will be explained to you and your consent will be obtained.

Clinical images form part of your medical record and may be retained for comparison at future appointments and for continuity of your healthcare.

Please speak with your doctor if you have any questions about clinical photography, image comparison or AI-assisted analysis before your images are taken.

AI-assisted systems may process sensitive health information, including consultation information and identifiable clinical images.
