Full-body skin checks in Ringwood East

At MoleSpot Skin Cancer Clinic, our doctors examine your skin using dermoscopy and discuss any spots that concern you. No GP referral is required. Our clinic is at 87 Dublin Road, Ringwood East.

What happens at your appointment?

Your doctor asks about your skin concerns and relevant history, then examines your skin. Dermoscopy uses magnification and specialised lighting to look more closely at individual lesions. Photographs of selected spots may be taken to support assessment and later comparison.

Our usual skin-check appointment is 15–20 minutes. If you have several concerns or are unsure which appointment to book, speak with reception beforehand.

Preparing for your skin check

Avoid wearing makeup, and point out any new, changing or concerning spots at the start of your appointment. Tell your doctor about previous skin cancers and any family history of melanoma.

You will usually be asked to undress to your underwear. Discuss any areas you would like examined, or any concerns about examination or photography, before the check begins.

Is a skin check the same as mole mapping?

A skin check is a clinical examination by a doctor. Our Mole Mapping and Full Body Skin Check combines this examination with detailed photography, creating a baseline for future visits. FotoFinder software compares images over time and flags new or changed lesions for your doctor to review, supporting earlier detection. You can book the combined appointment directly; your doctor will assess your needs and recommend follow-up at your visit.

Findings and follow-up

Your doctor explains the findings and recommended next steps. These may include routine review, repeat photographs of selected spots, or a biopsy or removal when needed. The timing of follow-up depends on your individual risk and the examination findings.

A skin check cannot guarantee that every skin cancer will be detected. Seek medical advice about a new or changing spot rather than waiting for your next planned appointment.
